Payment and Booking
A deposit of £500 will secure your place on the Farthest Shore and a Magical Journey tours. A deposit of £250 will secure your place on the Dragon’s Flight and Celtic Spirit tours, a deposit of £350 will secure your place on the Hebridean creative retreat. Reservations are accepted on a first come first serve basis. All tour and retreat deposit payments are via PayPals secure website and you will receive a confirmation email form both PayPal and Celtic Compass upon receipt of payment.
The balance must be paid in full 2 months (60 days) before the start date of the tour to confirm you place and 20 days in the case of a retreat. If the balance is not paid by this date, we reserve the right to regard the reservation as cancelled.
In the case of late bookings, full payment will be required at the time of booking.
The single supplement is for those who would like to secure a private room throughout the tour, at the indicated price. If you are not travelling with anyone you know and would like to share a room, please indicate your preference for a roommate on the Registration Form. We will be happy to find you a suitable roommate. Registration for the tour will be held open until two weeks prior to departure date in order to try and match everyone with a roommate. If by that date we have not been able to match you with a suitable roommate, you will be responsible to pay for the single supplement, this payment can be made on the tour.
Group Size and Trip Costs
The advertised cost for each tour is based on an established minimum level of participation. Should the group for any tour fall below this number, each traveller may be assessed a surcharge dependent upon the number of persons travelling (usually between £100 and £300 per person). Celtic Compass makes every effort to keep the surcharge as small as possible. If assessed a surcharge you will be notified of the amount at least two weeks prior to departure date. Payment is due upon notification.
or in the event that we do not have the minimum number of participants we reserve the right to:
- add a 10% small group surcharge or,
- cancel the tour. In either case, you will be notified as soon as possible. In the event of a tour cancellation, you will receive a full refund or you may transfer to another trip.
Tour costs and what they include are listed on the itinerary for each tour. Unless indicated otherwise the tour fee includes: accommodations in double occupancy, meals as indicated (any foods or beverages not include in the program and purchased by you will be at additional cost. Tour price includes only foods and beverages that are provided to the entire group), all transportation during the tour, sightseeing, entrance fees and services of guides as specified in the itinerary. Tour costs are taken on group rates and no refunds will be given for unutilized services.

- Extra meals not included on the itinerary
- Any side trips or excursions guest do outside of the set itinerary
- Gifts, souvenirs, laundry, cleaning, telephone calls, telexes, faxes, cables, wines, liquors, beer, mineral water, soft drinks and incidental expenditures
- Porterage – we carry our own bags, always
- Tips for tour guides, hotel staff
- Emergency evacuation
- Personal travel insurance
- Any item as not specified as being included
In the event of cancellation a full 30 days notice prior to your tour is required, 7 days notice for retreats with full refund. If cancellation is received within 30 days of a tour date or 7 days of a retreat date there will be no refund. Any cancellations must be received in writing.

Note: Should the trip fail to achieve minimum participation, Celtic Compass reserves the right to cancel the tour. In such case, it is Celtic Compasses responsibility is to provide a full refund. You will not be entitled to make any further claims for compensation or damages, for any loss, consequential damage, expenses, loss of time, or inconvenience which may result from such a cancellation.
Cancellations by Celtic Compass due to state travel advisories and/or state travel warnings, Acts of War, War, Terrorism, Acts of God, Natural Disaster or any other circumstance outside the control of Celtic Compass, are not the fault of Celtic Compass. Cancellation for any of these reasons will not be eligible for any form of refund.
Please note all properties we stay in follow a strict no smoking policy, no smoking is allowed on or near the properties or whilst in transit from site to site. Scotland has strict no smoking laws. It is now illegal to smoke in and around accommodation and public interiors. To make it comfortable for all on our tours no smoking is allowed at the tours sites either.
We strongly recommend you take out travel insurance.
Tour Delays and Route Changes
It is possible that route changes, delays or postponements may become necessary. This could be due to inclement weather, or any other cause. In the event, you will have no right to a refund and Celtic Compass and its suppliers will have no obligation in respect to such changes except as follows:
If a scheduled duration of a tour is shortened more than 24 hours, we will make a refund based on the number of complete days by which the trip was shortened.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you are physically fit, adequately experienced and suitably equipped to complete the journey If you have any medical conditions, allergies or special dietary requirements you must inform us and your leader (where appropriate). We will endeavour to pass on any dietary or special requests to our suppliers but cannot guarantee that they will be able to meet your request. Your booking is accepted on the basis that you understand and accept the inherent risks involved in adventure or activity tours and that you undertake the journey and activities of your own free will. If you decide that you are unable to continue the journey you will be responsible for making your own alternative arrangements at your own expense.
All services described herein are organised by Celtic Compass and/or its suppliers. Notice is hereby given that all arrangements made on behalf to customers are made by the organisers on the sole condition that the organisers shall not be held responsible for any injury, death, accident, delay, loss, damage, or irregularity which may be occasioned through acts of any company and/or persons engaged in carrying out arrangements and services described herein or otherwise in connection herewith.
The information contained in this site is correct to the best of the organisers knowledge, but the organiser accepts no liability for any inaccuracies therein.
The organisers reserve the right to alter any itinerary or service at any time without penalty to the organiser. Any additional expense or cancellation costs shall be borne by the customer.
The organisers reserve the right to withdraw or refuse any service to any customer at the discretion of the organisers. Payment of deposit is taken as acknowledgement of and agreement to the above items.

Disclaimer – Force Majeure
Celtic compass acts as a tour operator. You agree that Celtic Compass will not be liable for any change in schedule, strikes, delay, acts of governments, fires, riots, theft, pilferage, epidemics, quarantine, medical or customs regulations, accident, loss, injury, or damage to you or to those traveling with you in connection with any accommodations, transportation or any other services or resulting directly or indirectly from any occurrence or conditions beyond its control, including defects in vehicles, breakdown in equipment, thefts, delay or cancellation of or changes in itinerary for any act, omission, or event during the time you are on tour. Neither Celtic Compass and/or agents of the airlines concerned are to be held responsible for the late arrival of passengers at airports or resorts due to inclement weather, nor are they to be held liable for payment or any refund for unused hotel accommodations or meals occasioned by such late arrivals at the hotels holding rooms as confirmed itineraries.
Celtic Compass reserves the right to refuse to accept or retain any person whose behaviour is deemed likely to affect the smooth operations of a tour, or adversely affect the enjoyment or safety of other passengers. Celtic Compass, and suppliers shall be under no liability to any such person for refund, compensation, repatriation or any other matters arising. Celtic Compass is not responsible for circumstances beyond its control. Trip cancellations resulting from the inability for trip to depart as scheduled, such as cancellations due to acts of war and/or terrorism, war, God, or nature.
Release of Liability and assumption of Risk
The customer understands that during the course of the trip certain risks and dangers may occur, including but not limited to the hazards of travelling in nature. The customer agrees that no liability will attach to Celtic Compass or its outfitters, guides or to any member of the tour group in respect of death, personal injury, illness or delay of the customer, or for any loss or or damage to the property of a customer during their trip, howsoever caused. Celtic Compass reserves the right to decline, to accept, or to retain any person as a member of the party at any time. Catch up fees are the responsibility of the passenger in the event of a missed flight or transport to the start point of a trip.
